This walkthrough will guide you to all the collectibles in Thamur’s Corpse Region in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies and In Santa Monica Studios' soft God of War reboot, players come across the corpse of the giant Thamur about halfway through the main story. In the lore of the game, Thamur had attempted to build a wall around Jotunheim in order to protect his people but was later killed by Thor. By the time Kratos and Atreus reach him, Thamur has long been dead, surrounded by snow and ice. The tallest being in the God of War series, exploring the vast corpse of Thamur is one of the many memorable areas in the game, and thus contains many great secrets to be discovered. Runes Norse runes are puzzles hidden throughout the world of God of War, which usually requires Kratos to throw his Leviathan Axe at hidden runes in the environment in a specific order. There are two rune puzzles to be found in the area of Thamur's corpse. The first rune puzzle is in the main tundra area, where the player can see the head of Thamur in the distance. To the left of an Ice Ancient lies a gate with three runic symbols above. Once players have found all three symbols, the gate will lift, and inside there'll be a coffin. Inside the coffin, players can find some Solid Svartalfheim Steel as well as the Legendary Enchantment Mark of the Ranger. The second rune puzzle can be found after the magic chisel. Here, there'll also be a locked gate with runic symbols above. After finding all three runes, the gates will open. This leads to a dead Troll that holds a Glacial Catalyst. The Glacial Catalyst can be used to upgrade the Charm of Infinite Storm. There's also a chest of Hacksilver to be found nearby. Realm Tear Realm Tears usually offer an extra bit of challenge for God of War players looking to 100% complete the game, though this one doesn't contain any enemies. A blue crystal that unlocks a Realm Tear can be found in this area, right around the first rune gate. The crystal will be covered in sap, so the player will have to throw a bit of red crystal at it so Atreus can shoot a shock arrow. Once the crystal drops, players can take it to the Eastern corner of the lake where they'll find a socket to put it in. At this point, a Realm Tear will appear. There won't be any enemies for Kratos and Atreus to fight. Instead, they can find the Dust of Realms, which can be used to upgrade various Talismans. Legendary Chest Considering that it's unlisted, it can be remarkably easy for players to miss the legendary chest in the Thamur's Corpse section of the game. It also can't be returned to after completing the level, making it even easier for players to miss. After finding Sindri in his first shop, players will climb the platforms and fight the first traveler in the level. Afterward, players will need to take the stone block in the doorway and align it with Thamur's pendant. Kratos will need to use his axe to tilt the pendant to the side in order to climb it. At the top, players can jump to a balcony where they'll find a legendary chest. It contains Blessing of the Frost, a heavy runic attack. Odin's Ravens Much like the pigeons in Grand Theft Auto IV, there are various ravens hidden throughout the world of God of War. Supposedly the spies of Odin, destroying them will reward the player with experience. Two can be found at Thamur's corpse. The first raven can be seen from the dock that leads to Thamur's corpse. While facing the Mystic Doorway, players can look up to find a small raven perched in the distance. Players can destroy him with the axe, but they'll need to aim slightly above in order to hit him. The second raven is on the shore of Thamur's corpse, behind the Hidden Chamber of Odin. Players should simply go down the lift and they'll find the raven in the arena in no time. Coffins Coffins in God of War often contain various useful items Kratos can use on his journey. And while one of the rune puzzles hides a coffin, there are still many more to be found surrounding the corpse of Thamur. The first coffin can be found at his ring. Atreus should shoot one arrow to loosen it up, then Kratos should turn the ring so it faces the wall of ice. Hitting the right side will reveal a coffin that contains Solid Svartalfheim Steel. Head down the nearby Hidden Chamber and players should find another coffin that contains Runic Wyrmskin Pauldrons as well as more Solid Svartelfheim Steel. Later, after dealing with a few enemies, Kratos can find another coffin in the center of the tundra that holds Plated Runeweaver Bracers and more Solid Svartelfheim Steel. The next coffin can be found around Thamur's hammer. Once the hammer falls, Atreus should shoot the crystal one more time to break through a wall of ice that leads to a coffin hiding some Solid Svartelfheilm Steel. Not long after, players will enter a small building where a coffin with a Runeweaver War Belt and more Solid Svartelfheilm Steel hides to the left. Once under the ice, another coffin containing Solid Svartelfheim Steel can be found hidden within. The last coffin is in the Dining Hall. The player will need to use some red crystal in order to free it, in which Kratos can now go up and get some more Solid Svartelfheim Steel. Gunnr Valkyrie Fight The Valkyrie are optional boss fights in God of War, which can unlock the Valkyrie Amor among other rewards. Each one of them is different from the rest, so this should be an exciting venture for players who missed it the first time around. The first boss, Gunnr, can be found in this area. Being the first, Gunnr is naturally the easiest, but that doesn't mean that players should let their guard down. The game naturally leads the player to the Hidden Chamber of Odin where Gunnr waits, though this boss is still optional. Gunnr will primarily use her wings or her scythe to attack Kratos and Atreus, though as long as the player is effective in combat, the fight shouldn't be too difficult. Thamur's Corpse puzzles and the Frozen Lake puzzle solutions You'll climb up from the previous area onto the edge of an area called the Frozen Lake, with Thamur's Corpose laid out in front of you up ahead. Retrieve a piece of the Chisel Before proceeding, there are a couple of things to do here, including a rune gate hiding just a Coffin chest, albeit containing a legendary enchantment to be unlocked, a Realm Tear to be sealed, and some tricky enemies to defeat. First, defeat the handful of Wulver dotted around in front of you to buy yourself some space. Then, turn to the South. You'll see a few things a Lore Marker embedded in the side of a stone structure, a blue crystal covered in red sap, and just to the right West of those, a marked spinning pannel for you to throw your axe at, which raises up a spinning rune totem. First, read the lore with Atreus. Then, go and check out the locked gate to the North, with three Runes above it, to see what you need to open it E, a sideways R, and the upwards-pointing arrow. Just to the left of the gate is the first spinning rune totem. Hit it twice to display the sideways R. Then, go to the first totem you saw, by that marked panel where the Lore Marker was. Raise the totem by hitting the panel several times with axe throws, then hit the spinning totem once to display the E. Finally, the third spinning totem is trapped behind some sap a little further along the North-Western side of the area. You need to grab some red crystal from the tree stump on the the South-Eastern side, lob it at the sap and detonate it as usual with a Shock Arrow to free it up. Hit it once to display the upwards arrow Rune, and the gate opens. Behind the gate is the Coffin chest and a pile of Hacksilver - it's worth getting to though, as it holds a Legendary Enchantment that boosts your throwing axe damage. Next up, the crystal covered in sap. Grab some more red crystal from the stump, chuck it at the sap, shoot it with a Shock Arrow and a blue crystal will drop. Take that to the Eastern corner of the lake and put it in the socket to open a Realm Tear. Interact with it for some rare stuff Dust of Realms. Finally, there's a coffin to loot in the centre of the lake - and an Ice Ancient nearby! If you touch the sleeping ancient it'll wake up, so it's up to you if you want the practice and rare loot or if you want to igore it and press on. To continue, when you're ready, follow the waypoint to the North-East. You'll soon find yourself up against more new enemies - Ice Nightmares - and then, after climbing under the rock behind them, you'll arrive at the Head of Thamur. Head of Thamur This new area is all rather imposing - you're standing right in front of a dead giant's head, after all - but you won't have long to ponder the scale of it; soon enough you're launched into a tricky, and pretty large-scale battle! Find a way to break the Ice Enemies! A load of Druagr and more importantly not one but two Ogres appear at once. The best thing to do is pop your Spartan Rage when you have it and focus an Ogre. Getting onto the back of one of those will let you direct it's massive damage output to the other enemies. Use that one Ogre to take down the other, and as many Draugr as possible while you're at it, and then you're hopefully in the clear. Don't forget any runic summons Atreus has at his disposal though too - it's a great way to crowd control large numbers of foes. Talk to Sindri Next up God of War - Find a way to the Hammer, Traveler Champion and Seasons puzzle solution Out of nowhere, here's Sindri. Talk to him to learn of the Dwarves' ability to go invisible that explains a lot and then upgrade anything you need to at his shop, before pressing on.
